Welcome to River Day School
“Education means developing the mind, not stuffing the memory.” --Anonymous
River Day School is a K-6 elementary school
in Spokane, WA. We are independent, nonprofit and
non-sectarian, Our kindergarten is full-day.
We offer a progressive education that fosters
children’s development as scholars and
community members. With small class sizes,
a mix of direct instruction and experiential
learning, and a caring school community,
River Day School is an educational environment
in which students thrive.
River Day school actively promotes respect
for diversity through our admission policy,
curriculum, and educational opportunity.
Small Class Sizes
With class sizes of 12-15 students per teacher, teachers have time to work with each student individually, teaching to your child's learning style.
Dedicated, Caring Teachers
Experienced and certified, teachers at River Day School are invested in the success of their students.
A Well-Designed Learning Environment
Our classrooms provide an atmosphere conducive to learning, with spaces arranged purposefully—there are areas for group work and areas for individual study, and the freedom to use the areas as needed.
Experiential Learning
Learning happens best when a connection can be made between the concept and a child's experience--providing opportunities for those connections is integral to a River Day School education. Lessons relating to a child's life, field trips and community outings all augment and highlight the classroom curriculum.
